You say you Love your Family

Hi, it’s the Spanish OSHA Guy here! The content of this video has changed my life and my behavior. What about you?

I invite you to comment. This concept was first introduced to me by another safety company that I have the privilege of working with from time to time delivering their custom safety training in Spanish (and English too). I say “introduced to me”. We kind of already know this in the back of our minds, but when someone articulates it so clearly, it can hit us like a ton of bricks. Be even though we know this, we often “miscalculate the risk”.

The best part of my job as a Safety Consultant and Trainer is when someone comes up to me and says something similar to what one of construction worker said to me on day 2 of an OSHA 10 hour training, “Steve, I got to tell you. Yesterday I was driving home going about 85 mph and then I reached for my phone. But all I could hear was your stinking voice in my head talking about taking control of the things we indeed have control over. So, I slowed down to a safe speed, put my phone down and made the call when I stopped.”

This is one of the great rewards I get as a safety trainer and one of the most powerful reasons why I do this job! Until next time. -Steven St. Laurent

I just got a few questions via email based on this blog post. Here are the questions along with my answers:

    QUESTIONS:
“HELLO STEVE I LIKE THE VIDEO, MAKE ME SEE THINGS ALITTLE DIFFERNT NOW. I HAVE A QUESTION TO ASK? THE OSHA CARDS WE HOLD HOW LONG IS THE CARD EXPERATION DATE, AND HOW CAN I UP GRADE FROM OSHA 10, TO THE OSHA 30. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME…”

    ANSWER #1:
The OSHA 10 card does not expire. (However the states of CT and NY, who require each worker who is on a publicly-funded job to have their OSHA 10 Construction card, require the OSHA card to be current to within 5 years.) MA, RI and NH -who have similar laws- do not impose an expiration date on the Federal DOL (Dept. of Labor) OSHA Card.

    ANSWER #2:
The only way to “upgrade” from an OSHA 10 to an OSHA 30 is to complete the additional 20 hours with the same trainer within 6 months of start date of the OSHA 10 course. Otherwise, you will have to take a full OSHA 30 online or with a trainer. Go to my “OSHA 10 & 30 Online” page under the “Training” tab here on my website in order to sign up and take a self-paced, online OSHA 30 course. Otherwise, look out for my training schedule via my “Safety Bytes” email newsletter or the “Schedule” page on my site.

Thanks for you questions and feedback on this blog article!
    -Steve
